Coastal grasses by the water at dusk

Late Winter · January 2023

Priya & Arjun

A private beach villa, Morjim, Goa

Priya and Arjun, a Mumbai couple worn out by the idea of a banquet hall, married on a Goa beach with the tide going out behind them. The brief was unusual and exact: don't make it look like a shaadi.

So we leaned all the way into the place. Frangipani and jasmine instead of heavy arrangements, a mandap of driftwood and palm, long susegad afternoons, the pheras timed to the sunset. The sangeet on the sand turned, as it should, into a bonfire and a feni-fuelled dance floor.

When the toasts landed at dusk the planning was over and it was just two families barefoot at the shore on a perfect evening.

We wanted sand between our toes and our grandmothers happy. We somehow got both.Priya & Arjun
